'New To Care' Support Worker - Theatres

In Theatres we are recruiting a Theatre 'New to Care' Support Workers to join Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, on a 12 month training contract with progression opportunity to a substantive Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker role, if training and development is successfully completed.

The role is predominately based within The Day Surgery Unit which is very busy department and is expanding its services constantly. It is a dedicated unit which has three operating theatres, two recovery areas and a ward. There is also an ophthalmic department within the unit. The department manages day case elective surgery for adults and paediatric cases. It provides a service for elective surgical specialities which include; General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Oral/Max-Fax, Dermatology/Plastics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Hand Trauma. Day Surgery encompasses the whole patient surgical journey from admission to discharge. Our goal is to provide high quality individualised care, in a timely manner, to a range of patients undergoing elective day case procedures.

Whilst the post is predominately in Day Surgery it also encompasses all theatres and you may be asked to support with across Main Theatres and in the soon to be opened new Theatres at HDFT.

The Theatre 'New to Care' Support Worker will assist and undertake an agreed range of tasks in relation to the care of a patient or group of patients and the environment in which care is delivered. The qualified Nurse/ODP is responsible for all care and supervision although tasks will be delegated to the AFC Band 2 Care Support Workers.

To support and care for patients in the Day Surgery Unit. Working under the supervision of trained practitioners in the role of Theatre Circulator and also providing pre and post operative care to patients in the ward area.
