Company Description Orbis Education and Care provides specialist day and residential education and care services for autistic children and adults, including schools, residential homes, community homes, and a work-skills day service. Orbis offers in-house therapeutic services such as Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Positive Behavioural Support. Working closely with families, health and social services, schools, and commissioners, Orbis designs placements around the specific needs of each person and their support network. The overall aim is to create safe, supportive environments that promote life, work, and social skills, self-esteem, confidence, and greater independence.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Occupational Therapist role based in the Greater Cardiff Area. The Occupational Therapist will assess the functional, sensory, and developmental needs of autistic children and adults, and design person-centered intervention plans that support their daily living, learning, and social participation. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting assessments, delivering individual and group therapy sessions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including education, care, and clinical staff. The role involves supporting the development of life skills, work skills, and independence within school, residential, and community settings, and providing guidance and training to staff and families on implementing therapeutic strategies. The Occupational Therapist will maintain accurate clinical documentation, contribute to review meetings, and help ensure that services remain safe, effective, and aligned with best practice.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong skills in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, including assessment, intervention planning, and evaluation.
Candidates should possess relevant knowledge in Medicine and Pediatrics to support the clinical needs of children and adults with autism.
Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, individuals using services, and their families.
Candidates should possess professional registration as an Occupational Therapist (e.g., HCPC or equivalent) and a recognized degree in Occupational Therapy.
Candidates should possess experience or strong interest in autism, neurodiversity, and person-centered practice within education, residential, or community care settings.
Candidates should possess skills in report writing, record keeping, and use of outcome measures, along with good organizational and time-management abilities.
Candidates should possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating resilience, reflective practice, and a commitment to safeguarding.
