Online Distribution Analyst

Pontefract, England, United Kingdom Full-time Posted 1 hour ago
Job Description

The Role

As a key member of our UK Parcels Team based in our flagship Distribution Centre, E3, you will play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive their deliveries first time, every time. By diving deep into big data, you will transform complex information into clear, actionable insights that shape department decisions and drive the performance of both internal teams and third-party carriers. You will work closely with colleagues across our warehouses, distribution network, call centres, and external partners, ensuring everyone has the data they need to succeed. At NEXT, we are committed to helping you grow; you’ll receive the right support and technical environment to develop your skill set, master new data tools, and establish yourself as an analytical expert within our fast-paced operation.

What you'll take on

  • Drive Service Quality: Monitor daily operational indicators and audit data quality to identify issues, investigate root causes, and protect the integrity of our reporting.
  • Build Smart Solutions: Design star schema data models, create interactive PowerBI dashboards, and build automated data pipelines within Azure Databricks (using SQL/Python) to support operational decision making.
  • Translate and Communicate: Turn high-volume, complex datasets into clear, visual stories (using graphs, charts, and tables) and confidently present findings to teams, carriers, and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate Broadly: Work hand-in-hand with departmental colleagues, Management Information (MI) and warehouse teams to understand their data needs and deliver tailored analytical solutions.
  • Maintain Operational Consistency: Complete daily and weekly performance reports to tight deadlines and document all technical processes, automations, and dashboards to ensure consistency across the team.

What you'll bring

  • Technical Know-How: Strong experience using Azure Databricks (using SQL/Python) and PowerBI, alongside a solid understanding of the data analysis lifecycle—especially data cleansing and normalisation.
  • An Analytical Mindset: Advanced IT skills (including Google Sheets) and a strong grasp of statistical analysis methods like averages, percentiles, and trending to spot discrepancies and patterns.
  • Brilliant Communication: The ability to explain complex data simply and influence people at all levels in a positive, collaborative manner.
  • Great Organisation: A highly organised approach to your workload, with the attention to detail needed to handle busy moments and deliver accurate reporting under pressure.
  • Team Spirit & Focus: A customer-focused attitude, a graduate-level education (or equivalent), and background experience within a warehousing, distribution, or transport data environment. You are someone who loves to solve queries and is always keen to learn and develop your own skills.
