Operational Services Engineer
About the Role
We are recruiting for an Operational Services Engineer to join a globally recognised EPC leader in the aluminium beverage and food can manufacturing industry, with over 35 years of experience delivering highly automated production facilities worldwide.
This is a hands-on role focused on the commissioning, start-up, maintenance and support of automated production equipment across customer sites. Working within a highly experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for PLC troubleshooting, fault finding, automation support and commissioning activities, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently in high-speed manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Commission and start up industrial automation and process equipment on customer sites
- Support installation, testing and operational acceptance activities
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, control system and PLC-related faults
- Carry out maintenance activities and warranty support work as required
- Programme, modify and troubleshoot PLC systems, with a preference for Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms
- Work with conveyors, filters and associated production equipment
- Provide technical support to customers and project teams
- Travel to customer facilities across the UK and internationally when required
- Manage workload independently and deliver projects to agreed timelines
Essential:
- Experience working with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
- Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Experience within commissioning, maintenance, service or operational support environments
- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems
- Ability to work autonomously in customer-facing environments
- Willingness to travel as required
Desirable:
- Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC experience
- Experience programming or supporting conveyor systems
- HNC, HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline
- OEM equipment experience
- Multi-skilled electrical and mechanical engineering background
