About the Disputes Resolution team
Our Dispute Resolution team advises businesses on commercial disputes, pursuing and defending complex and high We support clients on high-value disputes before the High Court, appellate courts, as well as in arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Our work often includes cross-border matters and spans commercial and insolvency-related issues. Our client base is made up of large (often multinational) corporates, professional services firms, financial institutions, law firms, accountancy businesses, media organisations, sports clubs, and high-net-worth individuals and their families.
Our experts advise on the full range of disputes:
- Commercial disputes – a wide variety of domestic and cross-border contentious issues, including in relation to contracts, civil fraud, economic torts, professional negligence and trusts.
- Corporate disputes – handling post-transaction disputes (including claims under warranties or indemnities and earn-out disputes), board room disputes, directors’ duties, shareholder and joint venture disputes.
- LLP and Partnership disputes – advising LLPs, partnerships, limited partnerships, and individual partnerships on contentious matters.
- Insolvency disputes – acting for and against Insolvency Practitioners including relating to unlawful distributions, directors’ duties, antecedent transactions, wrongful trading and retention of title claims.
- Media & Entertainment disputes – advising clients across Film, TV, Interactive Entertainment, Publishing, Music regarding contractual disputes and anti-piracy and content protection issues.
- Technology & Crypto disputes – acting for suppliers and customers in relation to IT project disputes covering issues from missed milestones, defective software and hardware, late or missing deliverables, service level breaches and in relation to disputes arising from crypto transactions.
About the role
The role will involve working closely with market-leading partners and associates on a broad range of commercial disputes, including insolvency-related matters. This work spans contractual disputes, professional negligence, director and shareholder issues, and partnership disputes
While the team’s core practice is litigation, you will also gain exposure to arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, and a range of disciplinary, regulatory, and statutory proceedings.
This role would suit a proactive and capable paralegal with strong analytical skills and a keen interest in developing their experience across a varied disputes practice. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your work, build confidence in dealing with clients, and contribute meaningfully to matters. Prior litigation experience is helpful but not essential. We are looking for someone collaborative, motivated, and keen to learn within a growing team.
Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Legal and non-legal research
- Preparing ancillary documents such as trial bundles
- Drafting letters and other legal documents for review
- Support business development initiatives
- Analyse and input legal data
- Write initial drafts of articles for internal or external circulation
- Organise case files
- Attend court hearings
- Attend meetings with clients or third parties
- Companies House searches
- Generally assisting secretaries, associates and partners as requested
