Company Description AGD Equipment Ltd is a specialist provider of crawler cranes, mini cranes, telescopic crawler cranes, piling rigs, sheet piling rigs, soil mixing equipment, and trench shoring solutions.


The company supports customers in the UK and worldwide through equipment sales, hire, rental, service, parts, repainting, and refurbishment.


AGD operates a rental fleet of around 100 units, all supported by experienced operators and comprehensive workshop facilities. AGD delivers reliable, safety-focused solutions to the construction and piling sectors.


Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for experienced Piling Rig and Crawler Crane Operators. The role involves operating crawler cranes and piling rigs on construction and civil engineering projects, following lift plans, method statements, and health and safety regulations at all times.


Daily tasks include pre-start checks, routine maintenance inspections, reporting defects, and ensuring machines are operated within safe working limits. Operators will assist with rigging and de-rigging, moving and positioning equipment, and working closely with site supervisors, slingers, and other site personnel. The position also requires accurate completion of site paperwork, adherence to company procedures, and flexibility to work on different sites and equipment types within the AGD fleet as required.

Qualifications

  • Valid CPCS or equivalent certification for crawler crane and/or piling rig operation, with proven experience in heavy plant or lifting operations.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety, lifting operations, method statements, risk assessments, and safe working load limits.
  • Practical mechanical aptitude for carrying out daily checks, basic maintenance, and fault reporting on cranes and piling rigs.
  • Ability to read and follow lift plans and work instructions, with good situational awareness and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to work with supervisors, slingers, signallers, and other site teams in a collaborative and respectful manner.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in varying conditions, with flexibility to travel to different sites when required.
  • Previous experience on piling, marine, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects is highly beneficial.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred; willingness to undertake additional training and certifications as required by the role.
