The Goodstuff Planning Director blends excellence in planning with strong client management and leadership to deliver great work, a happy team and delighted clients. They are responsible for leading client briefs through goodprocess, managing their team, the expertise and resources around them to deliver inventive and effective solutions. They have a thorough knowledge of planning best practice, and provide strong and evidence-led direction for their clients on specific briefs and long-term strategic challenges.


Reporting to the Business Director or Group Planning Director.


  • Lead on strategic responses to briefs, championing and controlling the planning process
  • Write informed and inspiring investment briefs centred around insight-driven big ideas
  • Play an active role and express your point of view in Client Department gatherings
  • Create learning and development opportunities and coach direct reports
  • Engage with industry developments and relevant media owners, identifying new opportunities for clients
  • Confidently instigate and invite challenge
  • Influence clients through strong relationships and compelling communications
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of your clients’ business and brand
  • Drive Goodstuff’s gold-standard client servicing principles
  • Direct effective client meetings, setting the agenda, tone and desired outcome
  • Direct day-to-day agenda, controlling workflow and deliverables
  • Create clarity around team roles and responsibilities, skilfully delegating to ensure the team are performing the right tasks
  • Responsible for the overall quality and delivery of work of direct reports
  • Create strong relationships with direct reports, providing regular feedback and effective appraisals and 1:1s
  • Oversee frictionless financial by instilling best practice across the team
  • Support direct reports in efficient management of invoicing processes and quick issue resolution
  • Get client fees booked on the system promptly and accurately and contribute to accurate and timely forecasting
  • Ensure accurate and consistent weekly completion of timesheets and those of direct reports
  • Encourage a culture of integration across departments


The requirements

  • Experience working within media planning across a breadth of different sectors
  • Experience in leading the process of strategic responses to brief
  • Evidence of a creative and strategic media mindset
  • A thorough knowledge of media best practice
  • A passion for media effectiveness and the creation of ideas
  • A positive approach and ability to galvanise, even in challenging situations
  • A confident presenter with the ability to tell a compelling story
  • Able to build strong relationships and flex communication style
  • Personable, passionate and professional
