Preceptorship Midwife

We would like to invite applications from newly qualified midwives to join our midwifery team at University Hospitals Dorset.
Our Maternity Service provides a full range of midwifery care for families in East Dorset. The service delivers care to 4000 women per annum. Join us at an exciting time at our new location in the newly built "BEACH Building".
As a preceptor programme midwife at UHD, you will be fully supported by the Practice Education Team during your preceptorship. This will enable you to build up essential midwifery competencies.
On completion of your preceptorship, you will have a gateway conversation with a senior member of the team to be appointed as a band 6 midwife.
The service includes a high risk labour ward alongside dedicated operating theatres and high dependency rooms. The maternity service offers an alongside midwife led unit that has 6 ensuite delivery rooms, incorporating birthing pools. There is an on call home birth service for the delivery of care to women who wish to give birth at home. In addition, the service offers a traditional model of midwifery care with separate teams for the acute and community service.

The Maternity department is committed to education and development, and invests in an education team which supports learning and practice development across the department. Learning and development opportunities currently in place are as follows:
