We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our Fetal Medicine Unit team as the Preterm Birth Specialist midwife. Only midwives with 3 years post preceptorship experience will be considered. You must have completed a UK preceptorship.

The Role Requires You To
- ensure that the preterm birth service is offered and delivered appropriately to the cohort of women/birthing people who are at risk of preterm birth.
- Provide clinical midwifery care to women/birthing people at risk of preterm birth. Triage referrals and ensure the allocation of women/birthing persons on to the appropriate care pathways, this may involve autonomous review of some women/birthing people who meet the criteria for review of cervical length images performed and facilitating the appropriate follow up care, including discharge for women/birthing people with measurements within normal limits.
- Provide appropriate counselling and able to cope with highly distressing or emotional circumstances e.g. on diagnosis of a high risk of having a preterm labour and birth. Guide and support junior staff in this situation. Support the clinical teams and work clinically as required during periods of increased activity. Be visible and accessible in the clinical area to support the multidisciplinary team in undertaking their role. This includes reviewing women/birthing people on the antenatal, labour and postnatal wards and liaising with the relevant professional in the multiprofessional team.
- Act as a resource for colleagues and provide expert knowledge.
