The role
An opportunity has arisen for a funds lawyer to join a leading national law firm with a long-standing reputation as one of the UK's top businesses to work for. The candidate will support a vibrant investment funds team with a rapidly growing practice as well as supporting the wider firm in relation to the creation and structuring of investment funds and other collective investment vehicles, fund management advice, and fund investment product advice .
We are looking for an experienced funds lawyer to assist a wide range of clients including investment firms, banks, angel clubs, custodians, administrators, payment services providers, corporate trustees, platforms, family wealth offices and fintech companies in respect of the range of funds work described above. The work will include advising on a wide range of issues including VC funds, RE funds, PE funds, nominee/contractual funds, REITs, RIFs and pension funds, as well as investments made into or by such funds.
The person
The candidate will have significant experience of investment funds. The ideal candidate would have specialist experience with both real estate and VC funds.
Given the challenges of this role, the candidate will have 10+ years' PQE, and the candidate's background will include significant project management and team management experience on funds transactions. The person will have a strong interest in developing others and be willing to share knowledge and experience of investment structuring and funds.

Pre employment screening

The activities
The key day-to-day responsibilities that the candidate will undertake are:
- taking lead project management (matter manager) roles on larger fund transactions;
- assisting with supervising more junior team members on smaller fund transactions or ancillary work;
- project managing specialist advice (eg tax, regulatory, charity law, employment, real estate investment) from other parts of the firm for funds clients or external providers (eg accountants, AIFMS, regulatory hosts; administrators; foreign lawyers);
- business development (preparing proposals and tendering, meeting with clients and prospective clients);
- assisting with practice management (working with the funds partner to ensure consistency and quality across the team on funds practice matters eg dealsheets, documents lists, bibles, client communications, press reports).
