Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Franchisee role based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The Franchisee will oversee the day-to-day running of a Greene King franchised pub, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, consistent service standards, and a welcoming pub environment. Responsibilities include managing and motivating the on-site team, leading from the front on the pub floor, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements. The Franchisee will be accountable for driving sales and profitability through local marketing, events, and promotions aligned with Greene King’s brand standards. The role also involves maintaining stock control, overseeing cash handling and basic financial reporting, and working in close partnership with Greene King to deliver agreed business plans and growth targets.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in hospitality, retail, or pub management, with strong leadership skills and the ability to build, train, and motivate a high-performing team.
- Solid understanding of customer service best practices, with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences and managing guest feedback constructively.
- Commercial acumen, including experience with budgeting, basic profit and loss management, stock control, and cost management.
- Strong organizational and operational skills, including shift planning, staff scheduling, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with Greene King support teams and engage positively with the local community.
- Confidence in local marketing, networking, and community engagement to grow footfall and build a loyal customer base.
- Comfort with using pub or retail systems for ordering, reporting, and compliance; basic IT literacy is required.
- Previous experience as a licensee, franchisee, or pub/restaurant manager is highly desirable, and the ability to hold a Personal Licence (or willingness to obtain one) is essential.
