We are seeking a hands-on R&D Electromechanical Technician to join our Cargo Research Team and support the development, testing, verification, and validation of next-generation security screening technologies.


What You Will Do

Working closely with engineers and research teams, you will assemble, test, troubleshoot, maintain and improve complex electromechanical systems and prototypes within our X-ray Imaging Laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install and test electromechanical systems and components.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on machinery and automated equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using schematics and diagnostic tools.
  • Program, troubleshoot and modify PLC control systems.
  • Support HMI and SCADA integration activities.
  • Perform I/O checks, loop testing and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams on continuous improvements.
  • Support FATs, customer demonstrations and wider engineering activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
  • NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in electromechanical assembly, maintenance, testing or repair.
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, mechanical systems and control technologies.

Desirable

  • Experience with SCADA systems and industrial networking.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Knowledge of robotics, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 or lean manufacturing environments.
