London Area, United Kingdom Full-time Posted 1 week ago

The Firm

gunnercooke is a Top 75 law firm recognised by more than 80 industry awards. Since launching in 2010, the firm has grown rapidly to over 500 lawyers across 14 offices in the UK, US, Germany and Austria.

Our model is different. We bring together ambitious, entrepreneurial lawyers who want the freedom to build the practice they have always envisaged, while benefiting from the support and collaboration of a truly exceptional network.

Collaboration sits at the heart of everything we do. We believe the best outcomes are achieved when talented people work together, share ideas and support one another. That culture has helped establish gunnercooke as one of the most innovative and fastest-growing law firms in the market.

Our purpose is simple: to deliver a positive impact for our clients, provide a better life for our people and leave a better world than we found it.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Real Estate Solicitor (2–5 PQE) to join one of our growing London-based teams.

Working closely with a highly regarded Senior Associate, you will play a key role in a busy and expanding practice that advises a broad range of commercial property clients, from local businesses and entrepreneurs to national property investors and developers.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply a caseload. We are looking for an individual who enjoys building relationships, takes genuine ownership of their work and wants to be part of a small team that is growing, hugely ambitious and committed to delivering exceptional client service.

The role offers flexible hybrid working, with attendance at our London office typically required one to two days per week.

What You'll Be Doing

You will assist with and manage a varied caseload of commercial property matters, including:

  • Acquisitions and disposals of freehold and leasehold commercial property.
  • Landlord and tenant matters, including drafting and negotiating leases, agreements for lease, licences and ancillary documentation.
  • Asset management work across a range of commercial property portfolios.
  • Property investment transactions, including portfolio acquisitions and disposals.
  • Property due diligence and reporting.
  • Supporting the real estate aspects of corporate transactions and business acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of commercial real estate matters, delivering practical, commercial and solutions-focused advice.
  • Take ownership of transactions from instruction through to completion, ensuring matters progress proactively and efficiently.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, agents, lenders and other professional advisers.
  • Anticipate issues before they arise and identify practical solutions to keep transactions moving.
  • Deliver an exceptional client experience through responsiveness, attention to detail and commercial awareness.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the practice by identifying opportunities to deepen existing client relationships.
  • Act as an ambassador for both the team and the wider firm.
  • Support and collaborate with colleagues, contributing positively to a high-performing and entrepreneurial team environment.

About You

The successful candidate will be:

  • A qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 2–5 years' PQE in commercial real estate.
  • Comfortable taking responsibility and experienced in managing their own caseload with appropriate supervision.
  • Commercially minded and confident communicating directly with clients.
  • Organised, proactive and capable of managing competing priorities.
  • Solutions-focused, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A natural relationship builder who enjoys working with clients and professional contacts.
  • Ambitious, motivated and keen to develop their career within a growing practice.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who will be a great addition to the team.

We work hard, care deeply about our clients and take pride in delivering an excellent service. We are ambitious and driven, but we also believe work should be enjoyable and that hard work should be rewarded. We value personality, humour, positivity and people who genuinely enjoy being part of a team. The right candidate will bring energy, enthusiasm and a collaborative mindset, whilst maintaining the highest professional standards.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to join a thriving and growing real estate practice where your contribution will be genuinely valued.

You will work closely with experienced lawyers, gain exposure to high-quality commercial property work, develop meaningful client relationships and play an important role in the continued growth of the team.

If you are looking for a role that combines excellent quality work, flexibility, responsibility and a genuinely enjoyable team culture, we'd love to hear from you.
