We are looking to recruit a motivated and organised Referral Co Ordinator (RCO) to join our Provider Team on a 6 month fixed term basis.

This is a key role within Children’s Services, providing essential coordination and administrative support to ensure timely, effective responses to referrals and requests for support. You will work collaboratively with operational teams, social workers, commissioning colleagues, and external providers to ensure that children and young people receive the right support at the right time.

This position is for a fixed term of 6 months from the start date.

This post will be carrying out Regulated Activity. As such the post will require an Enhanced Criminal Record Check plus an additional Barred List Check. The check will reveal any spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions (which have not been filtered), any local Police information and a check of either the Adult, Child or Adult and Child Barred Lists.

Skills

Essential:
  • An understanding of Child Development, Family Support and Child Protection.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise with other agencies and professionals.
  • Effective telephone manner and good recording skills.
  • Keyboard/IT Skills.
  • Effective recording skills.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Knowledge

Essential:
  • Understanding of Every Child Matters and Change for Children Agenda.
  • Knowledge of the legislation affecting the provision of safeguarding services to children and families as identified within the Children Act 1989 and 2004 and the NHS and Community Care Act 1990.
  • Understanding of the framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
  • An understanding of basic human needs, cultural, physical, emotional and social.
  • Knowledge of case recording systems such as Liquid Logic.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:
  • Educated to GCSE O Level standard or equivalent or above.
  • Evidence of consistent pattern of learning from education, training and expertise.
  • Experience of interviewing members of the public on the telephone or face to face and in potentially distressing and upsetting circumstances.
  • Experience of working with Children and Families in a statutory or voluntary setting.
