Risk Assessor - Water Treatment Division

Position Overview

A Risk Assessor in JLL's water treatment division evaluates and manages risks associated with water systems in commercial and industrial facilities. This role combines technical knowledge of water treatment systems with risk management expertise to protect building occupants, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Assessment and Analysis

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of water systems including cooling towers, domestic water systems, irrigation systems, and decorative water features. Identify potential hazards such as Legionella bacteria, chemical contamination, equipment failures, and regulatory non-compliance. Evaluate the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks on building occupants, operations, and the organization.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure water treatment programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations including EPA standards, OSHA requirements, and industry-specific guidelines. Stay current with evolving water quality regulations and industry best practices. Prepare documentation and reports for regulatory audits and inspections.

Water Quality Monitoring

Review water quality testing results and treatment program data. Identify trends or anomalies that may indicate developing risks. Recommend corrective actions when parameters fall outside acceptable ranges.

Risk Mitigation Planning

Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and control measures. Create water safety plans and emergency response procedures. Recommend equipment upgrades, treatment modifications, or operational changes to reduce identified risks.

Client Communication and Reporting

Prepare detailed risk assessment reports for clients and stakeholders. Present findings and recommendations to facility management teams. Provide training and guidance on water safety management practices.

Collaboration

Work closely with water treatment technicians, facility engineers, environmental health and safety teams, and client representatives. Coordinate with external laboratories, consultants, and regulatory agencies as needed.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in water treatment, facility management, environmental health and safety, or related field. Experience conducting risk assessments or audits preferred.

Technical Knowledge: Understanding of water chemistry, microbiology (particularly Legionella control), water treatment technologies, and HVAC systems. Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and regulatory frameworks.

Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Water Technologist (CWT), Certified Legionella Professional (CLP), or similar credentials are highly desirable.

Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
