About the Role


As Safeguarding Manager, you will own the end-to-end safeguarding framework, ensuring customer funds are appropriately segregated, reconciled, and protected at all times. You'll work closely with Finance, Compliance, Risk, and Treasury teams, and act as a key point of contact for the FCA and external auditors on safeguarding matters.


Key Responsibilities


-Design, implement, and maintain the firm's safeguarding policy and procedures in line with the EMRs and FCA guidance (including CASS-adjacent safeguarding principles)

-Perform and oversee daily/periodic safeguarding reconciliations across relevant funds and accounts

-Monitor and manage safeguarding shortfalls or excesses, ensuring timely resolution

-Maintain relationships with safeguarding banks/institutions and monitor counterparty risk

-Prepare and submit regulatory returns and reports related to safeguarding (e.g. REP-CASS or equivalent)

-Support internal and external audits, and liaise with the FCA on safeguarding-related queries

-Keep the safeguarding framework up to date with evolving regulation, including upcoming reforms to the safeguarding regime

-Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on safeguarding obligations

-Identify and remediate control gaps, driving continuous improvement of the safeguarding control environment


What We're Looking For


-Proven experience in a safeguarding, CASS oversight, or client money/assets role within a regulated EMI, payments firm, or bank

-Strong understanding of the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 and FCA safeguarding requirements

-Experience with safeguarding reconciliations and audit processes

-Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills

-Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with regulators, auditors, and senior stakeholders

-Relevant qualifications (e.g. ICA, CISI) are a plus but not essential
