Sales Director (North America)
Finteum is hiring a Sales Director to lead North American enterprise sales, reporting to the Co-founder and CEO. £90,000-£110,000 base salary, plus commission and equity
Finteum has built a platform for banks to borrow money from each other for hours at a time. The award-winning Finteum Platform enables bank treasury, FX and repo teams to negotiate intraday FX swaps and intraday repo with each other on T+0 or T+1.
Finteum offers the only inter-dealer platform for this type of trading. Banks use the platform to reduce intraday liquidity buffers held on the balance sheet, generate additional P&L through lending currency surpluses and gain access to instant intraday FX markets. In July 2024, UBS and CIBC executed the world’s first intraday FX swap on the Finteum Platform. Today, Goldman Sachs, UBS and NatWest are live and trading more than $1bn per week in intraday FX swaps, with a growing group of banks progressing through onboarding, integration, and deployment.
The Finteum Platform creates vital liquidity, as the finance world increasingly adopts tokenised digital assets. Finteum uses DLT to generate efficiencies in post-trade processing and has proven integrations with upcoming digital settlement rails, including tokenised deposits and stablecoins, such as Circle, Fnality and Partior.
We are expanding our business development team and looking for someone with strong enterprise sales experience, communication and organisational skills. You will have a proven track record of consistently delivering on complex, multi-stakeholder new business sales with large international or global banks. You will understand, at a high-level, the processes and systems used by banks for FX swaps and/or repo, from the perspective of different bank stakeholder teams (front office, treasury governance, operations / cash management, risk, finance, regulatory relations, treasury IT, compliance, reg reporting, etc.).
We are looking for someone ambitious that can help to deliver this meaningful transformation and efficiency for bank treasury, FX and repo teams. The person must have the right attitude – diligent, detail-oriented, professional, proactive, tenacious, consultative - constantly helping our clients to progress without being pushy, and seek ways to enhance relationships with client stakeholders. The right individual will appreciate the opportunities and challenges of the fintech startup environment.
This role is based in London, with a focus on US and Canadian banks. Future relocation to Toronto or New York is not a requirement, but we welcome candidates who are open to considering it.
Why join Finteum:
- VC-backed (pre-Series A), FCA-registered startup with a growing team, currently around 20 people, of which 2 are working on GTM, sales and marketing (2 more being added, including this role)
- Equity: you own part of the company
- Commission for each client you sign, with a realistic target that could bring commission to 50% of total comp, or more with accelerators beyond OTE.
- Flexible working: work from home up to 3 days per week and in the London office otherwise, unless travelling. We are driven by results achieved and not by set, fixed hours at your desk, but you should expect to work 37+ hours per week and to get most of your work done during Mon-Fri 09:00-17:30
- Influence: a working environment with low bureaucracy and a lot of personal initiative
- Whole team, fully-paid offsites twice per year, including with our remote team in Europe. Previous locations include Lisbon, Malaga, Bordeaux, Istanbul, Budapest and Malta.
- 25 days holidays (+ public holidays)
- Competitive base salary, plus commission and equity, with meaningful upside as the company grows
Responsibilities:
- Lead a multi-stakeholder sales process for designated US and Canadian client banks in the pre-sales stage, with the goal of executing licence agreements and establishing additional banks on the platform
- With support from the rest of the Finteum team as needed, evaluate and work with client champions and sponsors for Finteum, whilst also engaging directly with senior stakeholders. You will organise and lead calls and in-person discussions, deliver on follow-up actions and manage the communication with stakeholders
- To support client relationship building, you will travel internationally for conferences and client meetings for up to 7 weeks per year, as well as attending at least 1 week team offsite abroad. Travel expenses are fully covered and mostly during working days
- Actively use a CRM to manage your pipeline and ensure all client and deal activity is tracked and recorded
- Collaborate with Finteum’s partners and potential partners that can help clients to progress, such as the operators of financial markets infrastructure
- Contribute to the evolution of Finteum’s GTM, sales strategy and marketing, looking beyond your own client accounts and sharing ideas on our brand positioning, marketing collateral, social media, conference attendance, etc. that will help clients to progress
- As we are a startup, the responsibilities could evolve depending on your preferred focus areas and the needs of the company. You may also be asked to take on projects outside your client accounts
Requirements and qualities:
- 7+ years’ experience in a consultative, enterprise sales or related field, ideally selling into financial services, preferably working with international US and/or Canadian banks, e.g. selling to banks as part of a fintech
- Solution sales experience with bank front office teams (preferably in funding, liquidity management, FX swaps, money markets and/or repo), and/or treasury teams or liquidity risk teams
- Able to consistently deliver against quota goals, balancing your activities between the top and bottom of the sales funnel
- Proven track record of building relationships and delivering on complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise new business sales with large banks
- Excellent verbal communication skills - you must be succinct, have a curious mindset, and ask for support when needed. Great written and presentation skills, including the ability to quickly create a slide or a spreadsheet to communicate a concept to our clients
- Diligent attention to detail
- Self-starter with excellent organisational, prioritisation and planning skills
- Fluent English, other languages a plus
Nice to have:
- Prior startup experience preferred, ideally within a fintech
- Open to considering moving to Toronto or New York in the medium-term
- Degree or higher education preferred
