Sales Manager
WeavePay helps international businesses move, exchange and manage their money. We’re looking for ambitious people who want to build a career in sales, develop their own client portfolio and grow with the company.
This is a full-cycle sales role: you’ll find prospects, win their business, help them start using their accounts and develop those relationships over time. Your day-to-day responsibilities may vary across sales, onboarding support and ongoing client development.
What you’ll do:
- Find new business. Research prospects, reach decision-makers and build opportunities through calls, email, introductions, networking and events.
- Understand the client. Learn how their business operates, where they trade, which currencies they use and what makes their payments difficult.
- Manage the sale. Lead conversations, explain our products, prepare proposals, handle objections and follow opportunities through to a decision.
- Get clients active. Work with onboarding and compliance, help clients complete the required steps, and follow through to their first account funding, payment, FX exchange or card top-up.
- Develop your portfolio. Stay close to clients, identify further needs and grow their use of relevant WeavePay products.
- Keep HubSpot accurate. Record conversations, maintain your pipeline and give every opportunity a clear next step.
- Help open new markets. Identify promising sectors, countries and referral relationships, then help turn those opportunities into business.
You’ll work towards clear targets for new business, client activation and revenue.
What you’ll sell:
Our products cover international payments, multi-currency accounts, foreign exchange and debit cards. You’ll develop the knowledge to explain how they work, what they cost and where they fit a client’s business. Accurate expectations and close cooperation with the people delivering the service are essential.
What we’re looking for:
- Clear communication, confidence speaking with people and the ability to listen.
- Initiative: you follow up, solve problems and take responsibility for moving things forward.
- Intelligence, energy and commercial curiosity about how international businesses operate.
- Resilience when a prospect says no, and patience with sales cycles that take time.
- Humility, a willingness to ask questions and the discipline to act on feedback.
- Professional English. Additional languages are a strong advantage, especially if you can build relationships and sell into new markets.
Experience and knowledge we value:
- International payments: SWIFT, SEPA, Faster Payments, correspondent banking relationships, payment routing, settlement times and cross-border payment costs.
- Foreign exchange: major and G10 currencies, exchange rates, spreads, conversion costs and the currency needs of international businesses.
- Cards and merchant payments: debit cards, Visa and Mastercard networks, card issuing, acquiring, payment gateways, authorisation, settlement and chargebacks.
- The payments sector: the differences between banks, authorised payment institutions, electronic money institutions (EMIs) and small EMIs.
- Safeguarding and client funds: segregation of customer funds from a firm’s own operational funds, reconciliation and the distinction between safeguarded funds and bank deposits.
- Compliance: Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), anti-money laundering (AML), beneficial ownership, source of funds, sanctions screening and enhanced due diligence.
- Commercial models: payment fees, FX margins, card revenue, account fees and client profitability. Knowledge of yield and revenue models in corporate or private banking is also relevant, alongside an understanding of how these differ from an EMI’s activities.
- Technology: application programming interfaces (APIs), payment integrations and how businesses connect financial services to their existing systems.
- International trade: import, export, logistics, manufacturing, supplier payments and the movement of money across countries and currencies.
WeavePay is an electronic money institution, not a bank. Understanding that distinction and explaining our services accurately are essential parts of the role.
You may bring depth in some of these areas and need training in others. We provide coaching, sales role-play and practical learning. We expect you to study, prepare and build the knowledge needed to earn clients’ trust.
What you can expect:
A modest base salary plus substantial, uncapped commission potential, including recurring commission as your client portfolio generates revenue. Build lasting client relationships, and you can build an income that grows with them.
You’ll join a driven team that shares knowledge, helps each other win business and enjoys getting out to meet people. There are opportunities to attend events in London and internationally, work closely with the founders and take on greater responsibility as you deliver results.
Over time, that could mean handling larger clients, developing a new market, moving into leadership and helping recruit and build your own team.
Being in our Central London office is an important part of the role, particularly while learning and building relationships with the team. Hybrid working may be possible depending on experience and performance.
