London & Partners is delivering a high-profile, GLA-funded programme aligned with the Mayor’s AI Mission to help SMEs across London understand and adopt artificial intelligence. The programme will support businesses of all sizes and sectors to build awareness, develop practical AI adoption plans and implement solutions that improve productivity, innovation and growth.

Delivery will include awareness campaigns, workshops, online resources and more intensive support for businesses requiring deeper intervention.

We are seeking a Senior AI Adoption Specialist to lead delivery of this programme, manage a team of specialists and work directly with SMEs to turn AI opportunity into practical, real-world application.

About the role

You will lead a team delivering hands-on AI adoption support to SMEs across London, helping businesses identify opportunities for AI, automation and digital transformation.

Working closely with the Head of AI Programme, you will shape delivery, ensure high-quality engagement, and oversee the development of practical AI adoption roadmaps that support business growth and productivity.

The role involves a mix of in-person delivery, online engagement and stakeholder collaboration across London’s business ecosystem.

Key Tasks

Leadership and team management

• Lead and develop a team of AI Adoption Specialists.
• Set objectives, manage performance and support professional development.
• Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across SME engagements.

Programme delivery & SME support

• Design and deliver workshops, advisory sessions and training programmes.
• Support SMEs to assess challenges and develop practical AI adoption roadmaps.
• Ensure a strong end-to-end SME experience across the programme.
• Contribute to events, showcases and programme activities.

Stakeholder engagement

• Act as an ambassador for the programme across London’s business ecosystem.
• Build relationships with SME networks, partners and industry stakeholders.
• Support marketing and communications activity, including case studies.

Performance & improvement

• Track KPIs and ensure accurate programme reporting.
• Identify insights from SME engagement to improve delivery.
• Support continuous improvement of programme design and outcomes.

Person specification

Leadership & delivery experience

• Experience leading teams in SME advisory, innovation or digital transformation environments.
• Proven ability to deliver programmes supporting SME growth or technology adoption.

SME & advisory expertise

• Strong experience working directly with SMEs.
• Ability to translate business challenges into practical technology solutions.
• Experience delivering workshops, training or advisory support.

Stakeholder skills

• Confident engaging senior stakeholders and external partners.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Technical understanding

You will have practical knowledge of how AI and digital tools can be applied in SMEs to improve productivity and operations. This includes awareness of:

• AI platforms and generative AI tools
• Automation and integration tools (e.g. low/no-code solutions)
• Business applications such as CRM, analytics and workflow optimisation
• Common SME operational challenges and change management considerations

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.

Desirable experience

• Experience with publicly funded or government programmes.
• Knowledge of the UK SME or innovation ecosystem.
• Experience supporting diverse or under-represented founders.
• Project management or coaching qualifications.
