ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Asset Manager / Senior Asset Manager to join our Asset Management team. This position will be based at our London office, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week.

You will own portfolio performance and technical analysis across the fleet: availability, round-trip efficiency, degradation and warranty performance, wherever in the portfolio the question arises. Working alongside the O&M Operations Manager, who leads fault management and the central OEM contract and claims interface, you will provide the engineering and data analysis that underpins warranty and performance guarantee positions, carry commercial asset management responsibilities across the portfolio, and make sure commercial decisions across the fleet are grounded in sound analysis and engineering judgement.

You will work closely with the O&M Operations Manager, the data and intelligence team, local asset management colleagues in the UK & Europe, and our route-to-market partners. The role will be levelled at appointment: as an Asset Manager for a strong all-round profile with growing technical depth, or as a Senior Asset Manager for someone with genuine hands-on BESS depth from an OEM, owner-operator, independent engineer or technical advisory background. Either way, it suits someone who wants portfolio-level technical ownership across a growing European fleet rather than a single-site or single-market remit.

A genuine interest in renewable energy is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical and performance analysis:

• Provide deep technical investigation and analysis of complex faults across battery modules, PCS/inverters, transformers and other balance of plant, in support of the O&M Operations Manager.
• Review OEM root cause analysis reports critically and support the O&M Operations Manager in challenging analysis or proposed remediation that is inadequate.
• Monitor degradation, state of health and cycling across the fleet against warranty, augmentation and revenue assumptions.

OEM, LTSA and warranty support (portfolio-wide):

• Own performance measurement, availability calculations and liquidated damages analysis under long-term service agreements with major BESS OEMs across the European fleet.
• Prepare, evidence and progress warranty and availability claims in support of the central OEM claims interface, with input from local teams.
• Assess firmware, control system and hardware change proposals across the fleet, and support central change control governance.
• Support LTSA negotiations, amendments and technical clarifications in the UK and Europe.

Portfolio performance analysis:

• Lead technical analysis of availability, round-trip efficiency and throughput performance at portfolio level, and quantify underperformance for recovery.
• Work with the central data and intelligence team to develop monitoring, alerting and analytics across SCADA/EMS platforms and the group data platform.
• Provide technical input to optimiser and route-to-market performance reviews across markets.
• Contribute technical content to shareholder, board and investor reporting.

Technical assurance, safety and compliance:

• Provide independent technical review of contractor and OEM performance, supporting the O&M Operations Manager’s assurance of locally delivered O&M and defect management.
• Support HV safety rules and the safety interface between OEMs and BoP O&M contractors, recognising differing national frameworks.
• Provide technical input to grid code compliance workstreams and network operator submissions in the UK and, with local partners, in European markets.
• Work alongside the O&M Operations Manager on technical incident investigation, evidence capture and warranty claim substantiation.

Standards, data platform and team:

• Help develop and maintain group technical standards, asset management procedures and defect management frameworks applied consistently across markets.
• Provide technical input to the group data platform roadmap, including per-contract availability logic and performance analytics.
• Provide technical input to mobilisation and operational readiness for new projects, led operationally by the O&M Operations Manager.
• Act as technical mentor to asset management colleagues in the UK and Europe.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

•     Demonstratable asset management or senior asset management experience, performance engineering or O&M engineering for utility-scale energy assets, with operational BESS experience.

•     For appointment at senior level: demonstrable depth in at least two of: battery systems, power conversion systems, BoP, EMS/controls.

•     For appointment at senior level: a track record of leading root cause investigations and managing OEMs on technical matters.

•     Working knowledge of LTSA structures, availability guarantees, warranties and performance measurement.

•     Degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical or power systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

•     Confident interpreting operational data and comfortable working alongside data engineers.

•     Able to work effectively through local teams and partners rather than direct control, with the judgement to know when to support and when to escalate.

•     Clear communicator able to translate technical detail into commercial and board-level language.

•     Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline, particularly around evidence packs and claims.

•     Driving licence a necessity for site visits.

•     Flexibility to travel in UK and Europe to support operations as required.

NICE TO HAVE

•        Experience with Tesla Megapack and/or Fluence systems.

•        HV authorisation (SAP/AP) or experience operating under HV safety rules; awareness of European HV frameworks beneficial.

•        Familiarity with GB grid code compliance and network operator processes (NESO, DNOs, NGET).

•        Experience of owner-operator, IPP or multi-market portfolio environments.

•        French or German language skills.
