Senior Clinical Fellow, PET CT and Oncological Imaging

Fulwood, England, United Kingdom Contract Posted 1 week ago
We have an opportunity for a training post in PET CT and Oncological Imaging at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based on a 12-month fixed term contract.

We are looking for applications from a current radiology trainee who at the time of appointment will have passed Part 2B of the final examination for the Royal College of Radiologists.

If successful, you will be expected to work across all Trust sites at Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital and the new CDC Health port, based in Preston.

You will be trained in PET CT and other aspects of oncological cross-sectional imaging by a group of expert Consultant Radiologists and will be expected to participate in the research and teaching and will be given a generous allowance in your weekly timetable to do so. You will preferably be in an existing radiology training programme and be eligible for Out of Programme Training.

Although not essential, an interest in US and fluoroscopic non-vascular interventions would be advantageous.

You will be expected to play a full part in departmental audit and clinical governance programmes.

You will receive the full support of the Trust and the Directorate to develop specialist areas of interest in line with Directorate business plans and the development of services generally within the Trust and be expected to take on the role of educational supervisor for doctors in training attached to the department.

Will need to be resident within 30 minutes travel time to RPH.

The Radiology service is managed within the Clinical Directorate structure. The Radiology Directorate comprises Radiology, Neuroradiology, Ultrasound, Vascular (general) Interventional Radiology, Chest Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, including SPECT scanning and Oncological Radiology. Mammography is performed at the Chorley and South Ribble Hospital site.

The diagnostic department is well equipped, with a range of modern imaging equipment across two sites. There are four multislice CT scanners. Further facilities include a modern bi-planar neuro-interventional suite and two interventional cardiology suites.

There are three 1.5T MRI scanners and a specialised extremity MRI scanner. A well-developed nuclear medicine department is on site, with two gamma cameras. There is a trust wide GE PACS. PET-CT is provided on site via a partnership with Alliance Medical Ltd.

As a teaching hospital, we encourage all our staff to participate in teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

We are committed to developing our teaching and academic activities and can facilitate meeting any training needs for these roles.

As the regional Hospital, we serve a local population of around 390,000 and provide a number of specialised services to around 1.8 million people across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Most of our clinical services are provided on our two hospital sites – Chorley and South Ribble Hospital and Royal Preston Hospital.
