Senior Control Systems Software Engineer

We are looking for enthusiastic & experienced engineers to join our existing Energy team to perform all aspects software design, development and implementation for PLC based control and/or SCADA systems. The role will require the successful candidate work in a team on all aspects of a project lifecycle for the delivery of PLC and SCADA/DCS systems primarily in the renewable power generation and storage industry. Projects include upgrades of systems to latest versions, modification of systems for extensions and improvements as well as new build projects. The candidate should have proven main-stream control automation experience across several previous projects utilising the technology platforms listed below.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience using at least one of the following technologies: -
- Schneider M580/M340 utilising EcoStruxure Control Expert
- Siemens TIA Portal for S7 PLCs
- Siemens PCS7 Automation Stations
- Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix utilising Studio 5000
- Minimum 3 years' experience /Advanced SCADA Configuration skills using at least one of the following applications: -
- COPA-DATA Zenon
- Siemens PCS7 OS
- Siemens WinCC
- Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE
- Codra Panorama
- Experience of the following: -
- Producing Function Design Specifications, System/Detailed Design Specifications and Test Specifications
- Writing software to IEC61131 utilising ladder, function block diagram, sequential function chart and structured text.
- Performing Internal and Customer Factory Acceptance Tests
- Technical Checking & Reviewing of Engineering produced by others.
- Demonstrated ability to Support the development of less‑experienced team members through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Knowledge of project lifecycle working to QA procedures
- Willingness to travel and work away when required
- Full UK Driving licence
To have knowledge and experience in the following: -
- Renewable power generation control systems
- Delivery of Safety Systems to IEC 61508/61511
- Simulation software e.g. SIMIT/ PICS/WinMOD
- Communication protocols including: Profibus/Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3 etc
- Legacy PLCs/software e.g. Rockwell RSLogix5, 500 or 5000, Schneider Unity Pro/Concept, Siemens Step 7.
- Site work/commissioning automation control systems
- Cyber‑secure system delivery to IEC 62443
- Virtualisation utilising VMWare or HyperV
- Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 and Domain Configuration
- Network Switch and Firewall Configuration
