Basingstoke, England, United Kingdom Full-time Posted 1 hour ago
Senior Homeless Prevention Officer
Are you passionate about preventing homelessness in your local community.
Following the growth of the team, we are now looking for a Senior Homeless Prevention Officer to join our committed team in tackling homelessness within the Borough.
As an experienced practitioner, you will have excellent working knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. A typical day working in our Homelessness Prevention Team will involve managing a caseload, using a person-centred approach to undertake detailed housing options and support needs assessments and take actions to prevent homelessness and making statutory homeless determinations under the HRA. Primarily you will work alongside those at risk of homelessness and collaborate with internal and external partners including accommodation providers and community safety teams.
In addition to your existing experience and skills, you will apply a trauma informed approach to provide an effective homelessness prevention service for individuals and families, many of whom have multiple and complex vulnerabilities.
Our progressive attitude and successful social inclusion partnership has made significant achievements in preventing homelessness, reducing the use of interim accommodation and assisting the most vulnerable members of our community. The successful applicant will play a key role in continuing that record and will work across both our Homelessness Advice and Social Inclusion teams.
To find out whether we’re the right employer for you, please contact Ian.Farr@basingstoke.gov.uk or Nicola.Lee-Ratcliff@basingstoke.gov.uk for an informal chat.
What benefits do we offer?
At Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council we offer a wide range of employee benefits to recognise your valued contribution:
The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is undertaking Local Government Reorganisation, transitioning from a two-tier structure to new unitary councils from April 2028. If you are employed by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as of 1 April 2028, your role will transfer to one of the new organisations on your existing terms and conditions. This change is part of a wider move to support local devolution and strengthen powers within our communities. For further information please visit New Councils Decision
