Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: up to £70,000 DOE

Location: Watford, UK

We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an established building services consultancy in Watford, supporting the delivery of a growing portfolio of residential and commercial projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer looking to take on greater responsibility, strengthen client-facing skills and progress within a supportive team environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to mechanical design across projects from concept through to completion.
  • Work closely with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants.
  • Support project delivery alongside senior team members.
  • Attend design team meetings and develop client-facing experience.
  • Undertake site inspections and provide technical reports.
  • Carry out mechanical design calculations and technical assessments.
  • Contribute to project coordination and technical decision-making.
  • Support colleagues and collaborate across wider disciplines where required.
  • Help ensure projects meet client briefs, technical requirements and company objectives.


Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a UK MEP / Building Services Consultancy.
  • Degree or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience across a range of building services sectors.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services design, including HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
  • Experience using relevant mechanical design and calculation software.
  • Good working knowledge of CAD and/or Revit.
  • Ideally working towards Chartership with a recognised engineering institution.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical and project coordination skills.
