Our Local Authority Client are going through an exciting period as they have been working on delivering an extensive IT Infrastructure Transformation and Upgrade Programme, deploying SD-WAN, modernising the on-premise data centre environment using the latest HCI and ACI technology, and adopting services in Azure and AWS.


Duties:


  • Day-to-day network operations: The Senior Network Engineer will manage the day-to-day operations of our network infrastructure, ensuring its availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaboration with IT teams: Working closely with other IT teams, our Senior Network Engineer will collaborate on projects, share knowledge, and provide technical guidance to ensure the successful integration of network and communications solutions.
  • You’ll lead work to ensure our critical network and communications infrastructure is designed and optimised for security, high availability, and disaster recovery. This includes collaborating with our Enterprise Architecture Practice and the Information Security Team to ensure compliance with the ISO27001, PCI-DSS, and PCN standards.
  • Development and implementation of improvement plans: This role involves developing and implementing network improvement plans to enhance efficiency, scalability, and security
  • Maintenance of network design documents and general operational documentation: Create, update, and maintain network design documents


Technical Skills:


You will have a deep understanding of network fundamentals: Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, coupled with hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments.


  • Proficiency in specific technologies: Expertise in Meraki SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, Meraki Wireless, Palo Alto Firewall, Cloud, Zscaler and on-premise data centre solutions is essential for this role. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimising these technologies.
  • Experience designing and maintaining voice and communications technologies, including SIP Trunking and Session Border Controllers (SBC), Microsoft Teams and Netcall Liberty Converse.
  • Ability to troubleshoot: Candidates should demonstrate an aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving network issues and be willing to learn and develop their troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with network management tools: Familiarity with tools such as Site24x7 for network monitoring and management is advantageous.
  • The post holder should have relevant professional certifications to demonstrate core competency. Examples of relevant certifications include:


  • CompTIA Network+ 500-220 ECMS - Engineering Cisco Meraki Solutions
  • Nutanix Certified Professional Cisco CCNP Enterprise
  • Palo Alto PCNSE
