We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse/ODP to join our dynamic team. The core purpose of this role is to primarily work within Orthopaedics however at times due to the demand of the service, we will require you to work in a variety of specialities.

As an experienced Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse/ODP, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the patients within the operating theatre. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care and support throughout the perioperative environment. You will also support the planning and preparation of the environment which will involve communicating with the wider service team.

The post holder may be required to work at any of the Trust’s sites in line with the service needs.

Lead the operating list assigned from start to competition, escalating any concerns in a timely manner to the floor-coordinator

Prepare the operating room for a range of cases, ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment and staff are available for the day ahead.

Scrub and circulate for a variety of minor to complex procedures within your NMC/HCPC scope of practice this will include elective, trauma and emergency procedures.

Communicate effectively with the surgical team and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Support with post-operative care as required and

Ensure accurate documentation is recorded and handed over

Participate in training and mentoring of new staff and students as required.

Organise the specialistic equipment required for the procedures ahead of time and communicate this with the relevant internal and external parties

Complete clinical audits to provide compliance of the perioperative environment
