About The Role

We are seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to lead the delivery of technically challenging projects across the infrastructure sector, including water, energy and transportation.

You will play a key role in technical delivery, team leadership, and client engagement, supporting both temporary and permanent works design on projects ranging from small specialist packages through to large multidisciplinary infrastructure programmes.

The role involves close collaboration with designers, contractors, and clients to develop practical, buildable engineering solutions while maintaining high technical standards, programme delivery, and commercial awareness.

Depending on your level of experience, you will take increasing responsibility for technical leadership, project delivery, commercial management, client relationships, and development of junior staff.

London or Manchester Based.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of geotechnical engineering and design packages with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical leadership in developing and implementing engineering solutions.
• Manage, mentor, and support Engineers and Engineering Geologists within the team.
• Undertake technical review and checking of designs and deliverables.
• Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget, and quality requirements.
• Monitor commercial performance, including project budgets, fee spend, and resource allocation.
• Lead day-to-day technical discussions with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Ensure compliance with technical briefs, project requirements, industry standards, and relevant legislation.
• Contribute to the development of innovative and practical engineering solutions across infrastructure projects.
• Support business growth through strong client relationships and high-quality project delivery.

About You

You Will Have:

• A strong academic background in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, ideally with postgraduate qualifications.
• Chartered status and membership of a relevant professional institution. ROGEP preferred
• Typically, 5+ years’ experience for Senior level or 10+ years’ experience for Principal level roles.
• Proven experience within a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong geotechnical and/or tunnelling experience on major infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and industry guidance.
• Good commercial awareness and experience managing project delivery.
• Experience using industry-standard civil/geotechnical analysis and design software.
• A collaborative and proactive approach to technical problem solving.
