Senior Production Manager

We have delivered 1000’s of events to countless clients and are proud to count market leaders such as the BBC, British Airways, Apple, Amazon Music, Virgin Atlantic and Facebook among our clients.
Our work spans a broad spectrum of projects, whether that’s building pop-up bars and activations for brands like Absolut Vodka, Beefeater Gin, and Heineken; providing the technical production for live events such as TikTok and National Geographic’s Earth Day Eve; Television Studios for Ant and Dec's, "Limitless Win" or building permanent installations for British Airways’ and Facebook’s TV Studios.
Our facility offers in house CNC, Plasma and Laser Cutting, Joinery, Metal Work and Spray Booth, along with a substantial technical capability with lighting, streaming, video walls and much more besides. This is an exciting time for growth in our business and we have the capacity to take on even bigger projects than we ever have before.
We are now looking for an experienced Senior Production Manager to join our team on a full-time basis to steer our Workshop Team to deliver beautifully crafted scenic builds and fabrications for the influx of projects we are now delivering.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Working alongside the rest of the Production Team, you will lead the construction side of our major projects and events, reporting to the Head of Production.
As Senior Production Manager, you will be responsible for delivering major scenic construction projects, either working as a project lead, or managing a team allocated to the production from initial brief to installation on site.
Working closely with the Head of Production, you will regularly liaise with our in-house design, production, and workshop teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time within all budget and brief specifications.
On our larger projects, you may also be required to provide specialist consultation to clients.
This role requires someone with extensive experience managing construction, installations across multiple disciplines including but not exclusive to, high end shop fitouts, retail displays, product launches, brand activations, and permanent installations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivery of major scenic construction projects and directing the team from initial brief to installation on site.
- Assisting and providing quotes for fabrication costs including materials, and resources required to deliver to the client brief.
- Maintaining and contributing to the estimation and scheduling of productions, to ensure that a smooth transition into the workshop is achieved.
- Working with the design and drafting teams to ensure that designs are realistic and achievable given the client budgets.
- Manage operational processes of a project whilst maintaining an efficient workflow in line with budget and specifications.
- Providing guidance on value engineering each production to maximise quality and control costs.
- Provide key direction to the team regarding planning, design, and production.
- Write and carry out CPP, Risk Assessments and Method Statements where required.
- Contribute to the implementation of H&S across the lifespan of the production.
- Support the teams and where necessary attend client sites, especially to oversee more complex installations.
- Ensure that cost, quality, and time aspects of each production are managed, according to the key objectives of the client brief.
- Ensure the delivery of productions are on-time, to budget and meet the quality expectations of the client.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience of complex fabrication construction production management, ideally within the events and set building industry or retail fit-out related sectors.
- Exceptional knowledge and understanding of materials including timber, metals, plastics, and a variety of
- finishes.
- Excellent attention to detail including joinery, metal work, paint, electrical construction and
- installation, as well as fine finishing where necessary.
- A strong engineering knowledge and an ability to guide designers, project managers and technical
- drafts-people to achievable and cost-effective conclusions.
- Excellent project management skills and experience working with budgets exceeding £250k
- Good understanding of project finances; material / supplier costs, labour, and profit margins.
- Experienced in forecasting, reviewing and foreseeing project risks.
- Demonstrable experience of maintaining and controlling production costs through value engineering
- (e.g., cashflow, profitability).
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks with an ability to produce construction
- models and/or technical drawings for construction.
- Strong ability to work to deadlines, manage own time independently and prioritise work on multiple
- projects simultaneously.
- Experience in liaising with external H&S personnel where necessary.
- Good knowledge of sustainable material sourcing and advising on the best methods of production to
- achieve overall business sustainability aims.
- Competent using the latest computer software and communication tools, including the ability track
- costs and resources using our business software systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Hands on experience of joinery desired but not essential.
- Full UK Driving Licence desired but not essential.
BUSINESS HOURS & TRAVEL
Our head office and workshops are based in Beckenham, London. This role will be based both in our head office and occasionally on-site when required to deliver productions anywhere within the UK.
This role may include some evening and weekend work occasionally due to the nature of the projects we produce.
Normal office hours are 8.30 to 5.00, and our workshop is open from 8.00am until late where required.
