The role

As a Senior Reliability and Maintainability Engineer, you'll play a critical role in supporting a groundbreaking Land Cyber and Electro Magnetic Activities programme, helping ensure the UK Armed Forces remain at the forefront of technological capability. Working at the intersection of engineering, data analysis, systems integration and through-life support, you'll influence the design, performance and availability of complex defence systems that contribute directly to national security.

Day-to-day, you'll have the opportunity to grow your expertise in reliability engineering, maintainability analysis, Integrated Product Support and systems engineering while contributing to projects that protect and support those who serve.

  • Conduct detailed reliability analysis, including functional Failure Analysis, physical Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), and root cause analysis to identify and mitigate potential failures. Prepare and maintain comprehensive R&M technical documentation, including R&M case reports.
  • Develop and implement maintainability plans to ensure systems are designed for ease of maintenance and support. Analyse maintenance and operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement as part of our overall DRACAS.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to design and engineering teams to enhance system reliability and maintainability. Work with Systems Engineering to develop test plans, conduct reliability testing, and validate system performance against requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Safety, Systems Engineering, IPS, service delivery and Project Management, to ensure R&M requirements delivered. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in R&M.
  • Ad hoc support the IPS Manager and/or Engineering Manager, acting as the IPS Manager deputy, representing the IPS function internally and externally. Providing R&M guidance and reviews to peers and subordinates.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Engineer

  • Demonstrable experience of working throughout the engineering lifecycle to ensure the artifacts for the project delivered to the highest standard for the project to the customer.
  • A good understanding of cross domain and cross boundary requirements development and interface control.
  • Determining and Managing Stakeholder Requirements, Life Cycle Tailoring, Verification, Validation and Transition to Operation.
  • Understanding of accreditation processes for COTS and bespoke software.

Qualifications For The Senior Reliability And Maintainability (R&M) Engineer

  • Engineering HNC/HND with equivalent, relevant experience
