Expleo is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support a complex marine platform programme. The role requires an engineer who can operate autonomously within a client organisation, taking full ownership of Work Package items (typical Problem and Change Reports) and delivering system-aware corrective actions that provide clear, visible value to the programme. This position replaces an existing role and demands strong professionalism, technical judgement, and client-facing capability.

Responsibilities
- Own and resolve Work Package Items end-to-end, from investigation through to corrective action implementation.
- Conduct system solution reviews, including system decomposition and requirements management.
- Maintain full requirements traceability across system, sub-system, and software levels.
- Support system-level design activities for vehicle control subsystems and associated implementation hardware.
- Apply safety-aware systems engineering principles in line with regulated engineering environments.
- Provide system-level hardware and interface understanding to ensure coherent designs.
- Operate professionally on client site, representing Expleo credibly and independently.
- Support the Programme Engineering Team Lead (ETL) in delivering consultancy-led engineering services.
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, such as:
- Systems Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Demonstrable systems engineering experience on complex and/or safety-related systems.
- Strong experience working at the systems / software boundary.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision within a client organisation.
- Experience in marine, defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries.
- Proven experience in:
- Requirements management
- System design (desirable)
- Modelling and simulation (desirable)
- Proficiency with tools such as:
- DOORS
- Siemens Polarion
- Enterprise Architect or equivalent MBSE tools (desirable)
- MATLAB and/or Simulink (desirable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including customer and supplier interaction.
- Strong client-facing communication and professional presence.
- Able to build credibility quickly with client engineers.
- Proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem solving.
- Clear, confident communicator able to tailor technical depth to the audience.
- High levels of professionalism, judgement, and safety awareness.
- Rapidly establishes credibility and trust within the client engineering team.
- Independently owns and resolves problems without requiring close direction.
- Delivers pragmatic, system-aware corrective actions that improve programme outcomes.
- Demonstrates sound engineering judgement and safety awareness.
- Identifies opportunities to add consultancy value beyond immediate tasking.
- Trusted by the Engineering Team Lead to represent Expleo independently on site.
- Professional behaviour, autonomy, and client credibility are critical to success.
- Ideally will alrady hold SC Clearance; must be eligible to attain SC if requried.
- Urgent requirement. Immediate availability preferred.
- Working pattern is hybrid with 2-3 days required on client site per week. (North Kent / Medway area)
