Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bolton. As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing automated machinery, conveyor systems, and other warehouse equipment to ensure minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency. Daily tasks include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing technical issues, and implementing solutions quickly and effectively. You will also collaborate with the site team to monitor system performance and propose improvements for reliability and efficiency. Compliance with health and safety standards and accurate reporting to relevant stakeholders are key aspects of the role.


Qualifications

  • Technical and Mechanical Skills: Experience in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering, including troubleshooting and maintaining automated systems and conveyor equipment.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical and mechanical issues within a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer Literacy: Familiarity with using maintenance management systems, basic coding knowledge, and experience with PLC systems is advantageous.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Understanding and adherence to safety standards, procedures, and regulations within an industrial setting.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other engineering team members, management, and stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and Reliability: Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including weekends, with a strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Qualification: Ideally, an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a similar role is expected.
