Role Purpose:

The individual's must be a strong team member with a very good understanding of general civil engineering works with a critical focus on health and safety and quality requirements of the industry and Galliford Try as a business.

Ensuring compliance to the appropriate approved standards is essential.

The role will also involve working with site supervisors to safely and successfully deliver the works.

Provide effective liaison with the clients representatives, and sub-contractors at a site level while accurately reporting into the regional Project Manager on daily, weekly basis.

We do have several roles available across the UK, the successful candidates will be allocated a region.

What you’ll Be Doing:

  • Ensuring compliance to the appropriate approved standards is essential.
  • The role will also involve working with site supervisors to safely and successfully deliver the works.
  • Provide effective liaison with the clients representatives, and sub-contractors at a site level while accurately reporting into the regional Project Manager on daily, weekly basis.
  • The role will also require an ability to communicate effectively and efficiently while managing and supervising sub- contractors during their works.
  • Maintaining accurate site record always is both a mandatory and essential requirement of the role.
  • Ensuring that the approved method of working and quality of the works are to the required standard.
  • Ensuring that the necessary security of the works is always maintained and not compromised at any time to ensure that the reputation of Galliford Try is always maintained to the highest level.
  • Issuing and controlling permits to work and implementing safe working practices with a zero-harm culture.
  • This role requires experience in the planning and controlling all work activities on site with a good general understanding of civil engineering and construction practices and procedures and processes.
  • Delivering the constructed works within the defined timescales and costs and ensuring a high quality is essential.
  • Working to ensure that the Galliford Try business management systems are implemented and adhered to and always maintained.
  • The site manager will also be adept at on-site management of sub-contractors and responsible for the approval of risk assessments and method statements, problem solving and negotiating issues and implementing the Galliford Try business management systems.
  • Understand the importance of working with and compliance with a business management system.
  • Working on NEC contracts and maintaining accurate site records and raising the relevant notifications to the project manager and commercial management team via records and the Early Warning Notice Process, while providing strong communication at all times with the senior management teams.
  • Produce and update accurate look a head programmes to inform the project management teams of progress on a weekly basis.
  • Must be willing to travel and be flexible as required to deliver the works. Some work location will require the successful candidate to stay away from home, for which they will be full recompensed

About You:

  • Experienced within the construction industry and knowledge of the relevant security standards.
  • Hold or achieve security clearance to SC level as a minimum.
  • Strong NEC Contracts knowledge
  • Must be fully IT literate with experience of using Office 365, and IT knowledge to administrate and manage the Groups BMS for all site documentation and plans.
  • Previous experience on MOD projects would be preferable but not essential.
  • Strong working relationships with client & civils sub-contractors with previous experience of : -
    • Pre-construction , Surveying and investigation activities.
    • Planning and setting up of site compounds locations and welfare arrangements and other pre-construction activities in advance of the main contracted works.
    • General civil engineering and construction experience.
    • Perimeter fencing systems.
    • Installation of drainage and ducting systems.
    • Reinforced concrete works.
    • General excavation and ground support works.
    • Location of utilities and safe digging techniques and practices.
