We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Solar Farm Mechanical Installer to join our growing team in Durham on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the renewable energy sector by playing a crucial role in the construction and setup of solar farms. Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install solar panel mounting structures, including tables and associated components like brackets, bolts, and fixings.
  • Safely handle, position, and secure solar photovoltaic (PV) modules onto the prepared mounting structures.
  • Proficiently use a range of hand tools and specialized installation equipment to ensure efficient and accurate assembly.
  • Interpret and follow installation drawings, technical specifications, and site procedures to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Conduct essential torque checks and quality inspections throughout the installation process to maintain high standards.
  • Identify and effectively rectify any installation defects or snags encountered during the build.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering strictly to all site health and safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively and efficiently as part of a team to achieve installation targets and project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 year of relevant experience in mechanical assembly, structural assembly, or solar panel installation.
  • General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or equivalent.
  • Valid ECS Card (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme) or CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools and installation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and installation drawings.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, with good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform demanding physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • A keen attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in solar farm installation.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery.
  • Additional certifications relevant to the construction or renewable energy industry.
  • Fluency in English is preferred.
