Planning and Highways Solicitor - 1+ PQE
Hybrid | North West | Local Authority
Salary: £44,000 - £50,000
Working pattern: Hybrid with flexible office attendance
Essential: Valid Drivers licence & use of a vehicle
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning and Highways Solicitor with a minimum of 1+ years PQE to join a well-established local authority legal team in the North West.
This role sits within a Legal Environment team supporting infrastructure, regeneration and development projects. You will work closely with senior lawyers and key stakeholders across the organisation, contributing to complex, diverse, legal work and strategic decision making.
The position offers strong exposure to planning and highways matters and a genuine, clear, pathway to senior roles.
The Role
You will manage your own caseload and provide legal advice across planning and highways matters, including:
- Drafting and advising on section 106, 278 and 38 agreements
- Advising on planning enforcement, public rights of way and related matters
- Preparing reports and advising at committee meetings
- Supporting court applications and public inquiries
- Working with senior lawyers and internal stakeholders across services
You will be:
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX
- Experienced in managing a legal caseload
- Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- A clear communicator with strong analytical skills
Desirable:
- Experience in local government or advising public sector clients
- Knowledge of planning or highways law
- Exposure to complex planning and highways work
- Clear progression to senior positions
- Collaborative and supportive team environment
