Solution Train Engineer – Large Programme Delivery (12th Month Contract)

South East

We are supporting a leading global fintech on a large-scale transformation programme and are seeking an experienced Solution Train Engineer to coordinate delivery across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs), technology domains and delivery teams.

This role requires a seasoned delivery leader with a proven track record driving PI Planning, cross-functional alignment and large-scale enterprise transformation programmes within SAFe or equivalent scaled Agile environments. You will operate at Solution Train level, ensuring delivery momentum, dependency management, production readiness and successful execution across a complex programme landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end delivery of large, complex solutions involving multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs), technology domains and delivery teams
• Drive Planning Interval (PI) Planning, PI execution and alignment across multiple ARTs and stakeholder groups
• Manage and resolve cross-team dependencies, risks, blockers and competing priorities across the programme
• Coordinate activities across Development, QA, DevOps, Product Management and Project Management functions
• Maintain programme visibility through Jira dashboards, programme boards and dependency mapping
• Facilitate collaboration between technology, product and business stakeholders to ensure alignment against programme objectives
• Provide delivery coaching, leadership and escalation support to maintain programme momentum and delivery commitments
• Oversee code and configuration readiness across solution components and workstreams
• Lead production readiness activities, including deployment readiness assessments, smoke testing and live proving activities
• Deliver clear and transparent reporting to stakeholders, including programme risks, dependencies, milestone tracking and testing metrics
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve delivery efficiency, predictability and operational performance

Required Experience

• Proven experience operating as a Solution Train Engineer, Release Train Engineer, Enterprise Delivery Lead or similar role within large-scale enterprise environments
• Strong hands-on experience leading delivery within scaled Agile frameworks, including SAFe and multi-ART delivery models
• Demonstrable experience leading PI Planning, PI execution, dependency management and cross-ART alignment activities
• Proven track record managing complex interdependencies across multiple Agile Release Trains, technology domains and delivery teams
• Extensive stakeholder management experience, including engagement with senior technology leaders, product leadership and programme sponsors
• Experience working within globally distributed delivery organisations, including close collaboration with US-based teams across multiple time zones
• Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Agile delivery methodologies, Release Management and CI/CD pipelines
• Proven ability to drive delivery momentum, remove blockers and manage competing priorities within complex enterprise programmes
• Excellent communication, coordination and facilitation skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, GitLab and programme-level dependency management tooling
• Experience with observability and monitoring platforms
• Familiarity with production readiness governance, smoke testing, deployment readiness and live proving activities

Desirable Experience

• SAFe certification
• Agile, Scrum, Release Train Engineer (RTE) or related Agile delivery certifications
• Experience operating at Solution Train level across multiple ARTs
• Experience within large-scale enterprise transformation programmes
• Knowledge of service level objectives (SLOs), observability, incident management and release governance processes
• 15+ years of enterprise delivery experience within complex technology environments
