Specialist Speech & Language Therapist – Acute inpatient wards

Band 6 £39,959 to £48,117 pro rata

Would you like to be part of a dynamic, supportive and friendly team, who are forward thinking and passionate about evidence-based practice and service development?

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our Adult acute inpatient team at Kettering General Hospital.

This specialist Band 6 role provides a wide range of opportunities that are ideal for an SLT who wants to broaden their skillset. We work with a highly varied caseload which includes specialties such as general & elderly medicine, neurology, respiratory and palliative care.

Our department also delivers a well-established Videofluoroscopy service, and the role includes involvement within this instrumental pathway as part of our wider acute service.

Experience In Dysphagia Management Is Essential.

You will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to service development, training and audit. You will also supervise and provide mentorship to junior colleagues, including Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists and SLT students.

You should be confident in managing a caseload independently, assessing and treating patients with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties. Service improvement and clinically developing services for our patients is at the heart of what we do, and we value all team members ideas.

We have a robust clinical and managerial supervision process in place. You will have access to peer support, regular supervision, regular team meetings, countywide staff meetings and in-house clinical forums. Professional development is encouraged through membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks, in-house and external training courses and is supported through annual appraisal.

We will consider a band 5 to band 6 developmental role for the right candidate if required.

Interviews for this position will be held face to face with no remote option available.
