Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Band 5 Nurses to join the Intensive Care team at Frimley Park Hospital on a 12-month secondment. As part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, we operate across three hospital sites in Frimley, Ascot, and Slough, offering a supportive and collaborative working environment.
Our Critical Care Unit comprises 12 beds, caring for a mix of Level 2 (HDU) and Level 3 (ITU) patients. We are proud of our comprehensive education programmes, supported by a dedicated practice development team, ensuring staff at all levels develop the essential knowledge and skills required to thrive in our busy yet friendly unit.
Candidates should have a minimum of six months’ post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting, with up-to-date clinical knowledge. A proactive approach to developing acute care skills and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic team are essential.
We offer flexible working patterns, including both short and long shifts. All staff are expected to participate in a rota that includes night duty.

We brought together Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to create Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust on 1 October 2014. Frimley Health Intensive Care Unit work closely together to support staffing and education.

Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in collaboration with specialist and senior clinical staff.
- Contribute to setting, monitoring, and evaluating standards of patient care.
- Actively support and promote health and wellbeing initiatives.
- Demonstrate and uphold a strong understanding of infection prevention and control, promoting best practice within the unit environment.
- Deliver and maintain high standards of patient care based on evidence-based practice and current research.
- Participate in the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of nursing care.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and comprehensive patient records in line with Trust and NMC standards and guidelines.
- Escalate and communicate any incidents, complaints, or team-related issues to the Team Leader as appropriate.
