Our Staff Nurses have a very varied role where no two days are the same.

As a staff nurse, you will be required to exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy and have the ability to plan and reach complex and critical judgements. You will be delivering high quality clinical care within the Integrated Healthcare Service for the prison, which will include acute & primary care, long term conditions management, enhanced assessment and diagnostic intervention services and health promotion activities. You will be required to demonstrate and provide robust expert clinical skills with a sound understanding of evidence-based nursing practice to provide a pro-active approach to ensure quality & outcome driven practice on a day-to-day basis.

Our Staff Nurses Operates In 3 Areas

  • Primary Care
  • Medication Administration
  • Emergency Response

You will run daily clinics which include urgent care same day matters to triage and routine primary care such as long term condition management, imms & vacs, wound care, health screening and promotion & care planning. Alongside medication administration.

Our staff nurses also provide emergency response to any incidents on site at the prison, this includes on the wings, in healthcare & communal areas.

Key Task And Responsibilities

Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy and have the ability to plan and reach complex and critical judgments, using decision-making skills, within the framework of established Trust policies, procedures, and the NMC Code of Conduct.

Deliver high-quality clinical care within the service. This will include acute and primary care, long-term conditions management, enhanced assessment and diagnostic intervention services, health promotion activities and be in line with the NHS Plan, public health indicators and National Service Frameworks.

Demonstrate and provide robust clinical skills with a sound understanding of evidence- based nursing practice to provide a pro-active approach to ensure quality and outcome-driven practice on a day-to-day basis.

Provide day-to-day supervision, mentorship, and support to junior colleagues, students, and unregistered staff, including the safe delegation of tasks in line with the NMC Code of Conduct.

Act as a role model by upholding and demonstrating the Trust values of We're Kind, We're Fair, We Listen, We Care in all interactions with service users, families, carers, and colleagues.
