About the Role

Kitall is seeking a technically capable, enthusiastic and ambitious Structural Design Engineer to join our growing team in London.


The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality structural engineering solutions across a diverse range of projects, including new build, refurbishment, remediation and assessment works. Working closely with senior engineers and directors, you will take increasing responsibility for project delivery, client liaison and technical design.


This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise, gain project management experience and progress towards professional chartership within a supportive and collaborative environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare structural calculations, reports, specifications, drawings and other technical documentation.
  • Undertake structural analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber and other structural systems.
  • Carry out structural inspections, surveys and condition assessments of existing buildings and structures.
  • Assess, adapt and re-use existing structures where appropriate.
  • Deliver design packages in accordance with project programmes, budgets and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients and other consultants throughout the design process.
  • Assist with project planning, resource allocation and financial management.
  • Prepare fee proposals and support project commercial management.
  • Review technical outputs and provide guidance to graduate and junior engineers.
  • Attend client meetings, design team meetings and site visits as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, British Standards, Eurocodes and industry best practice.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical standards, processes and procedures within the practice.

 

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong structural engineering fundamentals and first principles understanding.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to develop practical, efficient and buildable engineering solutions.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project budgets and programme constraints.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for engineering and a desire to achieve Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.

 

Essential Requirements

  • BEng, MEng or equivalent degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years' relevant structural engineering experience.
  • Experience in the design and assessment of building structures.
  • Good knowledge of current UK building regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software.
  • Experience producing technical reports and design calculations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Full right to work in the United Kingdom.

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Progress towards ICE or IStructE professional chartership.
  • Experience of refurbishment, remediation or temporary works projects.
  • Experience assessing and adapting existing structures.
  • Experience with reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and Revit.
  • Site inspection and construction monitoring experience.
  • Knowledge of cladding remediation or façade related projects.
  • Experience using software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, MasterSeries, Robot or similar.
