Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for the role of

Superintendent Pharmacist . The closing date for applications is 14 June 2026.

As a member of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the Outpatient Pharmacy Service, ensuring compliance with GPhC, MHRA, and CQC regulations and contributing to the transformation of pharmacy services for our paediatric population.

Key Responsibilities

Directly manage an independent company budget and create commercial opportunities.

Produce reportable forecasts for the management board.

Develop and maintain an independent Outpatient Pharmacy, including preparing for the GOSH Children’s Cancer Centre expansion.

Lead the creation of a new Outpatient Pharmacy Team and operating model.

Oversee procurement, dispensing, and supply activities in line with statutory obligations.

Drive service development, audit, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide training, supervision, and staff development.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

MPharm or equivalent (or BPharm/BSc Hons for those qualified before 2002).

Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

Substantial previous experience in an operational pharmacy role.

Experience interacting with hospital Electronic Patient Record (EPR) / Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) systems.

Experience managing change and leading service developments.

Experience training, supervising, and managing staff.

Experience developing standards, KPIs, and audit programmes.

Experience writing and implementing clinical guidelines and SOPs.

Experience in pharmacy business development and maintaining pharmacy business.

Knowledge of regulation relating to wholly‑owned subsidiaries and superintendent pharmacist roles.

Experience with computerised stock management, procurement, and financial reporting.

Significant commercial experience planning and developing new business and services.

Experience managing B2B and B2C service level agreements (SLAs).

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Management qualification.

Independent Prescriber status.

Previous Experience In a Wholly‑owned Subsidiary Pharmacy.

Experience in procurement of medicines, including unlicensed medicines.

Experience working in a hospital outpatient or inpatient pharmacy setting.

Experience with regulator inspection processes (e.g., GPhC).

Experience securing and managing pharmaceutical services under the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework.

Experience delivering pharmacy services within paediatrics.

Position Details

Band: 8d

Salary: £103,102 - £117,560 per annum (inclusive)

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Full‑time
