Starting salary £12.21ph

Rising to £12.41 after successful completion of probation, increasing to £12.60 after a further 12 months in post.

Role Summary

Working with adults who have learning disabilities within a supported living environment, delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Supporting individuals to lead fulfilling lives by promoting independence across all areas of daily living, including personal care, household tasks, social engagement, and community participation.

Empowering individuals to make their own choices, develop life skills, and achieve personal goals, while ensuring their safety, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.

  • Support individuals to exercise personal choice and achieve their desired outcomes, ensuring all care and support is person-centred.
  • Assist with a wide range of daily living activities, including meal planning and preparation, promoting independence and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Provide support with domestic tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.
  • Encourage and support individuals to access and participate in chosen social activities, promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement within the community.
  • Administer medication in accordance with policies and procedures, or support individuals to make informed choices regarding self-administration.
  • Support individuals with managing finances and day-to-day financial transactions, encouraging independence and informed decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records in line with organisational requirements.
  • Implement and follow individual support plans, ensuring care is delivered in line with each person’s preferences, needs, and goals.
  • Regularly review and adapt support plans in collaboration with individuals, ensuring they continue to reflect their wishes and how they want to be supported.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Available Roles and Key Responsibilities

20-Hour Post – Supporting Two Gentlemen (Supported Living)

This role involves supporting two gentlemen living in their own home, delivering person-centred support tailored to their individual preferences and needs.

  • Provide 1:1 support, particularly during a fixed 6-hour shift each Monday.
  • Work flexibly across the week, with shifts typically taking place during afternoons and evenings, depending on individuals’ routines and choices.
  • Participate in a rolling weekend rota, working both Saturday and Sunday on alternate weekends (5-hour shifts each day), shaped by the individuals’ preferences and support requirements.
  • Promote independence, choice, and engagement in meaningful daily and social activities.
  • Support with all aspects of daily living in line with individual support plans.

Flexibility is essential to ensure support is delivered in line with the individuals’ lifestyles and needs.

26-Hour Post – Supporting One Female Client (1:1 Support)

This role provides dedicated 1:1 support to a female client, based on a two-week rolling rota.

  • Work a structured rota consisting of:
    • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
    • Week 2: Thursday, Friday, Sunday (with occasional requirement to work Saturday instead of Sunday)
  • Deliver two 9-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift each week, generally between 09:00 and 17:00 or 18:00.
  • Provide consistent, person-centred support tailored to the individual’s needs, preferences, and outcomes.
  • Support with daily living tasks, routines, and community engagement.
  • Respond appropriately to behaviours that may challenge, using positive behaviour support approaches where required.
Flexibility is essential, as working hours may vary to meet the needs of the individual.
