Talent and recruitment specialist
Job Purpose:
The Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Specialist role is a commercially focused, externally facing recruitment position designed to support the growth of Newcross Recruit’s permanent recruitment service, while providing a smaller level of internal recruitment support where required. The role is expected to operate on an approximate 75% external permanent recruitment and client development basis, and 25% internal recruitment support basis.
The key purpose of the role is to act as the external face of recruitment for Newcross, identifying and developing commercial opportunities, generating client leads, building trusted relationships with external stakeholders and supporting permanent recruitment activity that contributes directly to revenue growth, client engagement, permanent placement delivery and service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may evolve over time, and the post holder may be required to perform tasks outside of the Key Responsibilities at the discretion of the business.
- Lead on the growth and delivery of Newcross Recruit’s permanent recruitment service, with primary responsibility for external recruitment activity, client development and commercial growth.
- Act as the external face of recruitment for Newcross, representing the business professionally with clients, prospective clients, senior stakeholders and external partners.
- Proactively identify, approach and develop new client leads and commercial opportunities to grow the permanent recruitment client base.
- Meet with clients and prospective clients to understand recruitment needs, build relationships, support commercial conversations and position Newcross Recruit as a credible permanent recruitment partner.
- Work towards commercially driven KPIs linked to client engagement, lead generation, permanent placements, conversion, revenue generation, service quality and client satisfaction.
- Develop external sourcing strategies to attract, engage and place high-quality permanent candidates into client roles, using LinkedIn, CV databases, direct sourcing, referrals and other effective channels.
- Manage the end-to-end permanent recruitment process for external clients, including role briefing, candidate attraction, screening, shortlist presentation, interview coordination, offer management and post-placement follow-up.
- Deliver a high-quality client and candidate experience that protects and strengthens the Newcross brand and supports long-term client retention.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, client activity, vacancy, conversion and placement data to support commercial reporting and performance tracking.
- Provide internal recruitment support for Group Functions and FuturU vacancies where required, acting as a recruitment partner to hiring managers as a secondary element of the role.
- Support internal hiring managers with vacancy scoping, sourcing plans, candidate screening, interview coordination and offer management where internal recruitment activity is required.
- Provide cross-functional recruitment support across HealthForce recruitment where required, including providing cover and continuity during manager annual leave, absence or periods of operational need.
- Ensure recruitment activity is compliant, fair, inclusive and aligned with Newcross values, employment legislation and internal processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of recruitment systems, processes, candidate engagement and commercial recruitment reporting.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure successful candidate onboarding, compliance handover and client follow-up where permanent placements are made.
- Support Newcross Recruit growth activity by sharing market insight, client feedback, competitor intelligence and opportunities for service development.
Key Performance Indicator
- Make a minimum of 40 meaningful client engagement calls per week, split between existing and dormant clients.
- Conduct a minimum of 6 client meetings or site visits per week.
- Generate 10 new client opportunities per month.
- Secure new permanent recruitment vacancies through proactive business development activity.
- Deliver a minimum of 5 permanent placements per month following completion of the initial onboarding and business development period.
- Achieve agreed revenue targets for Newcross Recruit.
- Maintain accurate CRM and recruitment system records at all times.
Core Competencies / Skills Required:
- Minimum of 3 years’ recruitment experience, with strong exposure to permanent recruitment, agency recruitment, business development, client engagement & commercially focused recruitment delivery.
- Proven ability to identify, approach and develop new client leads, build relationships and support commercial conversations with external stakeholders.
- Experience working in a sales, target-driven or commercially measured environment, with accountability for activity, conversion, placements, revenue or client growth outcomes.
- Strong client-facing communication skills, with confidence representing a business professionally and credibly with senior stakeholders and external clients.
- Excellent candidate sourcing and selection capability, including proactive use of LinkedIn, CV databases, direct sourcing and other recruitment channels.
- Commercially aware, confident discussing recruitment requirements, service expectations, candidate availability, market conditions and placement opportunities with clients.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client, candidate and internal stakeholder priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using an applicant tracking system, CRM, recruitment databases and other recruitment tools to manage pipeline, activity and performance reporting.
- Knowledge of UK employment law, recruitment compliance requirements and fair recruitment practices.
- Collaborative, resilient and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, take ownership of commercial activity and deliver against agreed targets.
