A 12-month fixed term opportunity for a qualified tax professional to take ownership of a broad tax remit and lead a structured review and enhancement of tax processes and controls within a well-established organisation.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys bringing order, clarity and rigour to tax environments and delivering a framework that will have a lasting impact.
The role
- This is a hands-on, end-to-end tax position with a clear mandate to assess and improve existing tax processes, controls and governance.
- Key responsibilities include reviewing the full compliance cycle across corporate tax, indirect taxes and employment taxes, including PSA and IR35. The role involves strengthening SAO readiness, documentation and audit trail, identifying areas of tax risk and implementing practical improvements.
- You will be responsible for establishing clear ownership, working papers and control frameworks, while ensuring ongoing compliance and reporting obligations are maintained throughout the review period.
- The role requires close collaboration with finance, the wider business and external advisers to ensure improvements are technically sound and operationally sustainable.
Why this role stands out
- This position offers a clear mandate to review and improve rather than maintain existing processes. It provides broad exposure across corporate, indirect and employment taxes, with a strong focus on SAO, controls and governance.
- It is a visible role with senior stakeholder interaction, reporting to the Finance Director, and offers the opportunity to shape how tax is managed going forward. The contract is deliverable-focused, with tangible outcomes expected over the 12-month period.
What they are looking for
- Candidates are expected to be ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified (or equivalent) with strong experience in UK tax compliance and reporting.
- A good understanding of tax risk, controls and governance is required, including familiarity with SAO requirements and end-to-end tax processes.
- The successful candidate will be able to translate technical tax matters into clear processes and documentation and will be comfortable working across multiple stakeholders while driving delivery.
- Experience may have been gained in industry or practice, but candidates should be confident operating with autonomy in a broad in-house environment.
