Are you an experienced SEND teacher assistant looking for long-term role in South London?

We’re looking for a passionate SEND Teacher Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Merton.


The school works with primary and secondary pupils with needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Speech, language and communication difficulties, with a strong focus on helping each child feel safe, included, and confident.


This school provides a highly supportive and nurturing place to learn and they pride themselves around the positive and inspiring atmosphere their dedicated staff create for the children.


Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant at this school:

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
  • Help adapt classwork so it suits each child’s individual needs.
  • Support daily routines, sensory activities, and interventions.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEND team.


What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience working in a similar setting, or having worked closely with children with SEND.
  • Knowledge of Autism-friendly strategies, sensory needs, and behaviour management approaches.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential).
  • A genuine interest in helping children grow in confidence and independence.
