LOCUM TEAM LAWYER - PLACE - (PLANNING, PROPERTY & REGENERATION)
North West England | 6+ month role | Hybrid working | £40 - £60 per hour | Local Authority
A forward-thinking and well-established local authority in the North West is looking for a locum Team Lawyer to join its Place legal team. This long-term locum role may extend beyond the initial 6 months. It is a crucial position within a client-focused, high-performing legal service that supports major regeneration, property, and infrastructure initiatives.
You will work closely with internal clients, senior stakeholders, and external partners, providing clear and practical legal guidance on a variety of matters, including land and property, regeneration, contracts, and related projects.
This position allows you to manage a varied caseload while contributing to broader service delivery, mentoring junior colleagues, and promoting continuous improvement within the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a complex legal caseload related to place-based initiatives
- Advising and representing the authority at committees, hearings and proceedings
- Drafting and negotiating legal documents
- Supporting major projects and regeneration initiatives
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX
- Experience advising within local government or on public sector issues
- Strong technical ability with experience across property, regeneration or related areas
- Able to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
