The Role

As a Team Lead - Technical Services within our Estates Delivery discipline, you will ensure safe and compliant maintenance for Property Operations assets across the site that are within scope of technical specialism

Day-to-day, you’ll manage delivery to ensure that the site is maintained, statutory compliant and operational for core business activities and you will be responsible for working across the management team to help deliver a best in class service and engage with employees across all levels.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and develop a proactive, engaged, high-performing team, promoting QinetiQ values, capability, resilience, and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate with Team Leads and stakeholders to prioritise workloads, resolve conflicting demands, and ensure delivery of site budgets, objectives, and service requirements
  • Lead the management of facilities, maintenance operations, buildings, infrastructure, and critical assets, ensuring effective contractor coordination, regulatory compliance, planned and reactive maintenance delivery, and continuous improvement in safety, performance, and service quality
  • Ensure maintenance actions, audit findings, risk management activities, and assigned operational responsibilities are completed on time and to the required standards
  • Manage work delivery to agreed time, cost, quality, and safety standards, while driving best practice and operational excellence
  • Provide strong leadership through effective communication, performance management, strategic planning, professional development, and stakeholder collaboration

Essential experience of the Team Lead - Technical Services:

  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, security, and compliance requirements within operational and maintenance environments
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and engaging multiple stakeholders to deliver operational objectives and service excellence
  • Experienced M&E, maintenance, or multi-skilled engineering professional with strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and planned maintenance expertise (including SFG20 standards).
  • Skilled in influencing stakeholders and decision-makers, building collaborative relationships, and driving operational strategies across diverse teams
  • Analytical and detail-oriented problem solver with the ability to manage risk, resolve complex issues, and maintain business continuity
  • Advocate for continuous improvement, best practice, and effective communication, with a track record of delivering solutions and improving team performance

Essential qualifications for the Team Lead - Technical Services:

  • Relevant C&G, BTEC level 3, ONC/OND or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical & electrical discipline

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Portsmouth site. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.

Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance
