We’re looking for a talented and driven Telemetry Field Engineer to join United Utilities in a fast-paced, modern maintenance environment. Starting each day from your home base, you’ll travel directly to sites across Lancashire and Greater Manchester, giving you the autonomy and flexibility to manage your own workload while staying connected to a highly skilled and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver proactive, planned, and reactive maintenance across telemetry assets
  • Provide second- and third-line on-site technical support, resolving complex faults
  • Act as a trusted escalation point for Monitoring & Control Regional Engineers
  • Diagnose and resolve issues efficiently to minimise downtime and service disruption
  • Work independently across multiple sites while maintaining high standards of safety and performance
  • Contribute to a mobile engineering team focused on operational excellence and collaboration
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Support initiatives that improve system reliability, performance, and environmental outcomes
  • Accurately document work carried out, including fault diagnosis and corrective actions
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within telemetry systems and processes


Essential Qualifications & Experience


  • Full UK driving licence
  • Time-served apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Strong understanding of IP networking and routing
  • Proven experience in a field-based support role
  • Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic capability
  • Ability to think logically and make sound decisions independently


Desirable Skills & Knowledge


  • Point-to-point and multipoint radio systems
  • Telemetry, control, and automation infrastructure
  • RTU types and communication systems
  • Microsoft and Linux operating systems
  • Technical service desk experience
  • IT and physical security awareness
  • Hardwired analogue and digital control systems
  • Telemetry devices and wide area communications
  • Accurate documentation and reporting skills
