Company Description Time Out Group is a fun, welcoming organization that supports adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults to learn new skills, build friendships, and stay active. Based in Cheshire East and surrounding areas, the group offers a wide range of supported activities tailored to individual needs and interests. These include skills for independent living, community gardening, fitness and active sessions, health and wellbeing workshops, and creative arts such as crafts, music, and dance. The focus is on providing inclusive, meaningful opportunities that promote confidence, independence, and a strong sense of community. Trustees help guide this work so it remains safe, sustainable, and aligned with the needs of the people supported.

Role Description This is a volunteer, remote Trustee role responsible for providing strategic oversight, governance, and support to Time Out Group. On a day-to-day basis, the Trustee will review and comment on key documents (such as policies, budgets, and reports), participate in online board meetings, and contribute to decisions about the charity’s direction and priorities. The role includes supporting good financial stewardship, monitoring risks, and ensuring that services remain person-centered and safe for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. The Trustee will collaborate with other board members and staff, offering guidance on strategy, fundraising, and community partnerships. Trustees are also expected to uphold the organization’s values of inclusion, respect, and empowerment in all decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Experience in governance, charity trusteeship, or board-level decision-making, with an understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities of a Trustee.
  • Skills in financial literacy, budgeting, or oversight of charity accounts to support sound financial management.
  • Background or interest in health and social care, disability support, inclusion, or community services, ideally with knowledge of issues affecting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, including the ability to contribute constructively in remote meetings.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to review information, ask critical questions, and make balanced decisions.
  • Comfort using digital tools (video conferencing, shared documents, email) to participate fully in remote governance activities.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to safeguarding the wellbeing and rights of all participants.
  • Previous experience in fundraising, marketing, HR, or risk management is beneficial but not essential.
