Undergraduate Teaching Fellow

The appointee will play an important role, together with the other Clinical Teaching Fellows, in all of the Undergraduate Clinical Teaching programmes. This will involve all aspects in the development, delivery and assessment of teaching to all levels of undergraduate students. The appointee will be expected to become involved in the teaching of first and second year medical students hospital visits (Early Clinical Experience Visits).

The Trust has a well-established Undergraduate Department with a long history of delivering medical students from Newcastle University and University of Sunderland. We offer classroom and clinical based teaching covering a variety of specialities for third, fourth- and fifth-year students. The department also provides early clinical placements and hospital visits as well as student selected components. We have dedicated teaching faculty, clinical educators and a dedicated simulation faculty. The Trust consistently receives positive feedback from students, universities and Health Education England as part of the annual quality monitoring process.

The vision of the Undergraduate department is to ensure that all medical students have high quality teaching and an excellent clinical learning experience, which relates to their curriculum outcomes.

To deliver and enhance specialty and generic teaching of undergraduate medical students across all year groups at all trust sites

There will be a requirement to travel between sites

To manage specialty specific teaching and oversight of respective timetables

To attend relevant meetings, such as weekly faculty meetings, emendation meetings, osce development

To complete mandatory training in line with trust procedures

To deliver high quality safe patient care through participation in the emergency department, outpatient clinics and ward-based care under the supervision of senior clinicians
