An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Ward Manager to support and provide leadership in Greenwich Inpatient services, on Shrewsbury Ward.
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated leader to support and manage the delivery of high quality inpatient mental health care on a 20 bedded acute male ward ward.
You will be responsible for promoting and developing clinical leadership by acting as a positive role model who practices evidence-based care. You will be joining a supportive senior nursing team who encourage personal development through supervision, PDR, CPD training programmes and further education.
You must also be able to provide supervision, mentorship and leadership for staff at Band 2 to 6 and student nurses as appropriate and also provide support to the Unit’s Duty Senior Nurse (DSN).

We have over 125 sites in a variety of locations in the South of England. In London we operate within the Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley Greenwich and into Kent. We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. Overview Of The Post
- Responsible for the operational management of clinical area.
- Lead and effectively manage the ward nursing team.
- Ensure high standards of evidence-based, patient centred care is maintained.
- To establish and maintain systems for clinical governance.
- To effectively and efficiently manage ward budget and resources.
- To promote good communication within the team and with external agencies.
- To provide management and leadership of all staff and resources within the units incorporating implementation of change and deliverance of standards of care.
- Budget management authorised signatory.
- To maintain clinical role. It is expected the role will divide 25% clinical and 75% management, but this should be flexible to respond to unit needs.
